The heart of the Ouray Ice Festival's action takes place during our annual Competition. Held in the famous Scottish Gullies, this event features elite ice and mixed climbers giving their all. It's a must-see spectacle showcasing incredible talent and a highlight of the weekend for both competitors and spectators. Find all the details about schedule, timing, and application below.
Exciting Changes for 2026: We're reviving the classic Ouray competition spirit! Routes will return to a natural, mixed alpine style, challenging climbers on rock and ice — a shift away from the UIAA format. Plus, Sunday now features our exciting Youth Competition, replacing the Speed event. We're stoked for this return to our roots and hope to see you (or your little crusher) there!

Due to limited space and a potentially high number of applicants, competitors will be chosen at the discretion of the Ouray Ice Park. All are welcome to apply :)

Welcome Happy Hour on Thursday, January 22nd (exact time/location TBD). Mingle with fellow competitors and enjoy some food/drinks. As a group we will review comp rules, expectations and give athletes the opportunity to ask any questions they may have
